Museum of Discovery Presents 6th Annual Uncorked: The Science of Wine

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (October 1, 2007) – The 6th Annual Uncorked: The Science of Wine, a wine tasting fundraiser benefiting the educational and outreach programs at the Museum of Discovery, will be held Friday, October 26 from 7-10 p.m. at the Museum.

Uncorked will feature wines from around the world, delicious appetizers and live music by Lorenzo Smith. Guests can bid on a variety of items at the silent auction, including original art, wine trips and gift certificates.

In keeping with the hands-on, educational atmosphere at the Museum, Uncorked encourages guests to interact with “wine experts” about a variety of topics including food pairing, grape varieties and wine selection.

Two new elements were added to Uncorked 2007. This year’s event will feature short educational classes by Lorri Hambuchen, DWS on topics like “Wine Tasting Basics” and “Uncorking the Myths of Wine.” Another new addition is a specialty beer garden featuring 8-10 beers from around the world.

Uncorked was established as an annual fundraiser to help enhance the quality of education and exhibits the Museum is able to offer. This year, Uncorked is expected to attract more than 300 attendees, consisting of both novice and expert wine lovers. Tickets are $100 and the dress is business casual.

Nan Selz, Executive Director, said “As a fundraiser, Uncorked provides significant financial support for the museum’s programs, but it also introduces the Museum of Discovery to people who have never visited before. They usually come back so they can spend more time with the interactive, hands-on exhibits and see our Electric Show and our Animal Programs.”
