navigate the seas? Can a superhero really fly? What is "grossology?" The wonders of science and technology come alive at the Museum of Discovery’s 2008 Summer Camps. It's a summer of discoveries.

2008 Summer Camp Descriptions
Craaazy Critter Camp
Explore crazy critters and learn amazing facts with the Museum’s live animals. From insects to reptiles, amphibians to mammals, discover what makes each unique. Campers conduct live inspections and create critter art as they spend time with four and six legged friends.
Science and Engineering
Put your mind in motion! Engage in experiments that explain and explore the world. Make science fun by taking apart a computer, building with Robotix© and programming a robot.
Summer Discoveries
Make electricity from fruit and veggies. Paint with light. Dissect a brain. Discover when a scorpion glows. The sciences collide as campers explore the world around them.
Grossology: It’s Your Body
Sometimes it is stinky, crusty, and slimy, but it is your body. Bake dookie cookies and participate in booger flicking contests while exploring the science behind the impolite functions of your body.
Pirates of the Museum
Do you have an adventurous spirit? Be it a buccaneer, corsair, privateer or pirate and sail away at Pirates of the Museum. Learn about the creatures hiding in the ocean or discover hidden lands. Study what the ships needed to explore or plunder and make a ship to take home. Only the brave at heart need apply since the excitement might be too much for ye.
Under the Sea
Sea life this summer as you drink octopop, get a fish name, and create underwater art. Become a sailor explore the down under with five days full of sea stories, songs, snacks, and creations.
Camp Electric
It’s all about electricity! Tinker with cords, batteries, motors, and lemons and see science at work. Learn about careers in energy, electricity and basic science. It’s an electrifying experience!
Mythbusters: Mystery Solved!
Legends, tall tales, and gimmicks? See for yourself! Can Superheroes’ really fly? What does it take to climb a building like Spiderman? Discover the myths and truths behind a superhero’s superpowers!
Amazing Race Around the World
Explore a new country every day as you budget your tokens, design your transportation, and embark on new adventures. Five days, five countries, many roadblocks. Who will win the race?
Robot Rodeo
Build, program and test robots, Museum of Discovery style! Explore new aspects of robotics and design a machine to move a raw egg from the top of a table to the floor without breaking it. It’s a Robot Rodeo!
Science of Snapshots
Say cheese! Learn the science behind photography. By using a dark room, negatives, chemical development and more, campers will learn how photography works by creating their own pictures.
This program is supported, in part, by the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage.
Growing a Scientist
Question, experience, investigate – with lab coats and goggles affixed, campers look, squeeze and dig into science. Magnetic fields and pollution aren’t tough topics for these budding scientists.

General Camp Information
- Half-day camp, 8:30 a.m.-noon & 1:00 – 4:30 p.m.
- Holiday camp, 8:30 a.m.-noon
- All-day camps, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
- Registration for all-day and half-day camps are on a weekly basis. Registration for holiday camp may be done on a weekly or daily basis.
- Full payment and registration form required to guarantee placement.
- Cancellations must be made three weeks prior to camp for a partial refund. Reservationist must be notified.
- Campers are responsible for providing their lunch.
- All camps are subject to cancellation and/or consolidation if a minimum number of campers are not enrolled.
- Schedule changes will be determined before the first day the camp is scheduled to begin and parents/guardians will be contacted prior to scheduled start dates for camps.

Extended and Lunch Care
Camp enrollment and extended care will be confirmed once registration is received. Late pick-up is offered as a convenience to campers and their parents. Late pick up will end at 5:00 p.m. and there is a $25.00 per week/per camper charge for late pick up.
If a camper remains at the Museum during the lunch period from 12:00(noon) until the start of another camp (1:00 p.m.), a charge of $25 a week will be added.
Prices
- Half-day camps are $125 member/$150 non-member. Regisration is on a weekly basis.
- All-day camps are $225 member /$250 non-member. Regisration is on a weekly basis.
- Summer Discoveries holiday camp is offered June 30 – July 4. You may register on a daily or weekly basis. $35 per day or $125 member/$150 non-member per week.

Registration Information
Camp registration can be made in person, over the phone , by fax, or by mailing the registration form located below. Reservations are not secured until payment is made.
Register by mail: Fill out the registration form located below. A Museum representative will call/email with confirmation. If you would like late pick-up or lunch care, please check the appropriate boxes on the online registration form and a Museum representative will contact you. MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express are accepted.
Register in person: Register at the Museum of Discovery from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. For directions, follow the Museum Location link.
