Football:  The Exhibit returns to the Museum!  Football explores the science and technology behind the popular sport of football.  Interactive stations let you experience the game like never before.  Test your ability to throw a football.  Do you have what it takes to make the team?  Find out at Football!

 

ECO
May 9-10

ECO's Endangered Species Day teaches visitors about more than 1,800 plants an animals worldwide designated “at risk” for extinction.  Demonstrations will show visitors how to protect Arkansas' most precious endangered species.

Saturday Discoveries

May 10

Saturday Discoveries is a great way to learn more about science through hands-on activities and experiments. The next Saturday Discoveries program will be May 10. “Science of Make-UP” will teach the chemisty of oils, gels and lotions while kids mix their own personalized beauty formulas. Saturday Discoveries is held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and is open to children in grades K-6.

The cost for each class is $15 and spaces are limited. Contact Beth Nelsen at (501) 396-7061 or bnelsen@amod.org to make your Saturday Discoveries reservation.

May 17

Girls have lots of questions when it comes to their changing bodies and puberty and some of those questions can be tough to answer.  Girl Talk will encourage an open conversation to break down barriers.  Through questions, games and stories, female duos will learn about the often-scary changes that happen to a developing body.  Janet Cathey M.D., will provide expert advice on the female body.  Girl Talk will be held from 2 – 4:30 p.m. and is open to girls and their adult female caregivers.  The program is $20 per pair.  For more information, call (501) 396-7061.

The MOD Squad is a group of parents with young children who support the Museum’s mission and share an interest in promoting the Museum of Discovery.   Benefits of joining include Sunday Play Dates and Parent's Night Out.  Join us May 18 for a special Room to Grow play date party!

The UL Safety Tour is a mobile exhibit of high-tech demonstrations and challenges designed to help consumers live safer lives by increasing awareness of hidden household dangers and the value of the UL Mark. This educational exhibit includes several interactive elements, such as safety test simulations, safety-themed video games, a family fire escape plan obstacle course and free giveaways – fun for all ages!

The UL Safety Tour will be open from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Join us for the 9th Annual Dino Dash and Discovery Fest.  Dino Dash 5K walk/run will begin at 8am and the 1K Family Fun Run will begin at 9am.   After the race, don’t miss Discovery Fest, a family street party with food, games, crafts and prizes. Register Today!  How did pirates navigate the seas? Can a superhero really fly?  What is "grossology?" The wonders of science and technology come alive at the Museum of Discovery’s 2008 Summer Camps.  It's a summer of discoveries.

June 12-14

Calling all educators, kids, hobbyists, and researchers - it’s time to stretch your mind!  It is a festival of learning as visitors express their creativity.  Make LED jewelry, paint with light, learn how kaleidoscopes work, dance with shadows or make color disappear.  The museum will be full of activity stations that invite all ages to stretch their mind. 

 

 

Mystery Mayan Medallion
September 6 – December 14

An archeological team has mysteriously disappeared from a dig site in Palenque, Mexico. They had been investigating a long-standing rumor that a priceless jade medallion is buried in the temple there. However, something horrifying has scared them off. Luckily, in their haste to escape, they managed to leave behind a video with clues and a warning to all who come after. See if you can uncover the mystery of the dig site and find the priceless treasure!
